A biotechnology sponsor sought better visibility into study data and a more streamlined approach to medical monitoring. Veramed delivered a customized VeraViz data visualization solution that replaced fragmented, spreadsheet-based processes with secure, interactive dashboards. The platform provided real-time access to critical study insights, reduced manual effort, and supported faster, more informed decision-making, while creating a scalable foundation for future study oversight and analytics.

The challenge
A biotech sponsor needed better visibility of medical and operational data across an ongoing study. Their current process of reviewing information through separate Excel workbooks made medical monitoring less efficient, while repeated filtering and manual table requests created extra effort for teams.
With multiple vendors involved and no in-house data management or clinical operations expertise, the sponsor needed a secure, intuitive solution that could bring data together, support medical monitoring, and help identify trends, milestones, and areas requiring attention more quickly.
The solution
We implemented our VeraViz data visualization software, based on the Qlik technology platform, which provides secure access for safety reporting, patient profiles and risk-based monitoring. We customized the platform specifically to the needs of the sponsor and study, including:
- Role-based access
- Standardized layouts
- Interactive visuals showing treatment milestones, enrolment, targets and data trends over time
- Dashboards that allowed users to filter by site, compare performance across sites, and retain filters across review domains and graphed visuals
The solution could be adopted as a standard for similar studies or customized further for specific study requirements. Further customization options included additional endpoint tracking, separate environments for blinded and unblinded review, and the flexibility to reuse standard structures or develop more bespoke outputs where needed.
The outcome
The sponsor found the solution highly useful, using it regularly to review data and gain weekly visibility into study progress. The dashboards reduced the need to open multiple workbooks or rely on programmers each time a new table was needed, making analysis faster and more efficient. Improved access also enabled the sponsor to contribute to data cleaning and highlight trends that may otherwise have been missed.
Overall, the solution supported better-informed decision-making, strengthened oversight across multiple vendors, and provided a scalable foundation for more frequent updates, deeper analysis of larger datasets, and future AI-enabled enhancements with human oversight.
