From a single statistician to a large FSP team, Veramed has built a longstanding, trusted partnership with a large pharma sponsor over more than a decade. Initially, a single statistician supported early-phase, late-phase and rare disease studies. Over time, the relationship expanded significantly, and Veramed now supplies over 50% of the client’s FSP demand.
With a team approaching 100 people, Veramed consistently outperforms its FSP competitors in quality, retention and delivery speed. Because of the long partnership, Veramed has supported the client’s transition in operating model, moving from outsourcing to in-house delivery. This has been supported not only through skilled FSPs, but leading and contributing to training, processes and adoption, stepping into responsibilities typical of permanent staff.
The challenge
A large pharma client initially needed an experienced statistician to ensure CRO deliverables were high quality, delivered on time and appropriately directed across early‑phase, late‑phase and rare disease projects.
As needs grew in scale and complexity, the sponsor required a partner that could expand rapidly and support a broadening portfolio on a long-term basis. A particular focus was supporting a shift towards an in-house model, which required a new skillset for the sponsor’s team.
The solution
Veramed has supported the client since 2012, beginning with one statistician and expanding steadily in response to the client’s priorities to include additional statisticians and statistical programmers, followed by Data Management services, unblinded Data Monitoring Committee (DMC) services, fully independent and operated using Veramed-owned systems.
More recently, Veramed has integrated into the client’s automation team, placing two specialist programmers in a five‑person group to drive automation initiatives, and begun delivery of outsourced projects in-house under the client’s updated operating model.
Beyond day-to-day project delivery, Veramed has been instrumental in developing guidance, process maps, SOPs, handbooks and ways of working within the client’s updated operating model, as well as supporting major initiatives such as a new computing environment and an R programming transition training program.
Veramed’s familiarity with the client’s processes enabled our teams to add immediate value, working alongside other FSP vendors and stepping into responsibilities typically reserved for permanent employees.
“Veramed was instrumental in identifying great talent and helping us to ramp up the FSP relationship quickly…Veramed is such a wonderful partner for us because they are always happy to engage to help close unexpected gaps rapidly, while ensuring the staff that are plugged into these obligations are well qualified and adequately supported.”
